Rhiannon Harvey grew up on board a 43-foot sailboat as her family completed a four-year-long, west-to-east partial circumnavigation of North America via the Panamá Canal. This trip left her with a lifelong love for boats, marine life, and the ocean at large. Rhiannon holds a BS with Honors in Marine Biology from Duke University, with dual minors in French and Creative Writing.
Rhiannon has worked on numerous research and conservation projects around the world, from replanting mangrove forests in Thailand to monitoring coral reef health in the Seychelles to tracking commercial fish stocks in México. She currently works as First Mate and Dive Instructor aboard a private yacht. By combining her passions for writing and marine conservation, she aims to tell stories that inspire love and concern for the ocean environment.
Mara’s Call is Rhiannon’s unpublished debut novel and was recently longlisted for the Blue Pencil Agency 2025 First Novel Award and the Santa Fe Writers’ Project 2025 Literary Awards.
